1:2 VANITY OF VANITIES, SAITH THE PREACHER, VANITY OF VANITIES; ALL IS VANITY.
I John 2:15,16; Colossians 2:21.
Vanity - Hebrew "HEBEL" (1892) emptiness or
vanity; something transitory and unsatis-
factory.
Vanity - Greek "MATAIOTES" (3153) futility;
transientness; depravity.
More thought should be given about the seri- Vanity
ousness of vanity. Vanity goes unindicted
because it is such a "little thing". And yet Spots
the seed of every sin is in vanity.
1. COSMETIC - To be cosmetically minded is to
be artificial, to be phony. It is to make
oneself look good by appearance from the
outside, it is attraction to self. 2
Timothy 2:9.
The cosmetics are a sensual practice to Appearance
create attraction to self with erotic
intent. It is sensual or it would not be Sensual
so vital to and characteristic of prosti-
tutes. It is the placing of importance on
the sensual, visible self rather than upon
the qualities of inner character.
2. EXTRAVAGANCE - Cosmetics are extravagant Extravagance
inasmuch as they are non-essential, and
therefore a waste of time, substance and
money. As God looks from heaven, He sees
waste as a corporate thing. He can see
the collective losses (in souls, progress,

food and clothing) by such practices.
CONSEQUENTIAL - We insist that vanities are
unconsequential, they are only "little
things." They are infinitesimal and there-
fore not really important. Here are some of
the things that vanities will do to the human
psyche that are important;
1. Makes us self-conscious. Beauty
2. Genders pride. Pride
3. Alters behavior.
4. Fosters sophistication. Cosmetics
5. Diametric to practibility.
6. Will affect relationships and moral
judgment. "Birds of a feather flock
together." Wrong associations lead to
trouble, pain and tears. Psalm 1:1-4.
7. Unpractical or impractical - Vanity is
impractical. Spirituality is the essence
of practicability. To be practical is to
be spiritual. To be vain has always been
equated with sub-culture.
8. Worldly - Worldliness is a deadly vanity Corruption
and forbidden as a moral corrupter. Job
20:4-6; Isaiah 3:24; I Timothy 5:6; Titus
2:12; Psalm 39:11; Proverbs 6:25; 31:30;
Ezekiel 28:17. "Whosoever is a friend of
the world is the enemy of God." See James
4:4
7:15 ALL THINGS HAVE I SEEN IN THE
DAYS OF MY VANITY: THERE IS A JUST
MAN THAT PERISHETH IN HIS RIGHTEOUS-
NESS, AND THERE IS A WICKED MAN THAT
PROLONGETH HIS LIFE IN HIS WICKED-
NESS. 16. BE NOT RIGHTEOUS OVER
MUCH; NEITHER MAKE THYSELF OVER
WISE: WHY SHOULDEST THOU DESTROY
THYSELF?
Best understood by reading Romans 10:2,3.
8:8 THERE IS NO MAN THAT HATH POWER
OVER THE SPIRIT TO RETAIN THE
SPIRIT; NEITHER HATH HE POWER IN THE
DAY OF DEATH: AND THERE IS NO DIS-
CHARGE IN THAT WAR; NEITHER SHALL
WICKEDNESS DELIVER THOSE THAT ARE
GIVEN TO IT.

SOFTNESS DESTROYS DISCIPLESHIP
What is needed now - every Christian to Disciples
launch out in a fiery war of heroism against
every patch of darkness until hell shakes and
the devil is stunned. If the creme puffs
would launch such an offense and every candy Warfare
Christian would become an iron faced soldier,
full of God's Holy Ghost, we could win the
world to Christ in ten days!
We have been called to preach the Gospel to Evangelism
the nations and bring the world to its knees,
confessing the sovereignty of the Lord Jesus
Christ, to wage a war against sin.
General Patton said in a letter to his wife
in 1945 as he saw the end of World War II
nearing; "I love war, I love the responsi-
bility and the glory of it."
8:11 BECAUSE SENTENCE AGAINST AN Justice
EVIL WORK IS NOT EXECUTED SPEEDILY, Correction
THEREFORE THE HEART OF THE SONS OF
MEN IS FULLY SET IN THEM TO DO EVIL. Evil
