Old Testament

Solomon

2:5 STAY ME WITH FLAGONS, COMFORT ME Love Cult

WITH APPLES; FOR I AM SICK OF LOVE.

THE LOVE CULT

Materialism (Solomon was a master on this Softness

subject) produces luxury, luxury provides

ease and comfort, ease produces softness -

softness of mind, as well as softness of the

body. This softness is diametric to self- Self-Control

discipline. The love philosophy is the

doctrine of the "soft."

Sacrifice cannot exist in an environment of

plenty without knowing self-discipline (self-

control).

"A RICH NATION CAN FOR A TIME, WITHOUT

NOTICEABLE DAMAGE TO ITSELF, PURSUE A SOURCE

OF SELF-INDULGENCE, MAKING ITS SINGLE GOAL

THE MATERIAL EASE AND COMFORT OF ITS OWN

CITIZENS. BUT THE ENMITIES IT WILL INCUR,

THE ISOLATION INTO WHICH IT WILL DESCEND, AND

THE INTERNAL, MORAL AND PHYSICAL SOFTNESS

THAT WILL BE ENGENDERED WILL IN THE LONG TERM

BRING IT TO DISASTER... America did not

become great through her softness and self-

indulgence...her miraculous progress and

achievements flow from...qualities far more

worthy and substantial...adherence to princi-

ples and methods constant with our religious

philosophy and satisfaction in hard work, the

readiness to sacrifice for worthwhile causes,

the courage to meet every challenge of our

progress, the intellectual honesty and ca-

pacity to recognize the true path of our own

best interests." *1

         ==========================

*1 President Dwight D. Eisenhower, State of
   the Union Message. January 1960

Every institution of man, every social

structure made up of human beings is under-

going a change in the form of rebelling

against (firmness) authority. (The detes-

tation of discipline is expressed in resent-

ing authority as the source of discipline.)

Catholics are rebelling against the Pope. Anarchy

Baptists rebel against water baptism. Rebellion

Congregations rebel against traditional Sin

teaching of the Word of God.

Teenagers rebel against parents.

Organized citizenry rebel against police and

courts.

Our congress and courts pass laws from Softness

pressure coming from minority activists and

make decisions to reverse traditional

Christian rights in public schools.

Criminal law, Bible reading, religious holi- Anarchy

days.

School curriculum (sex education).

Even criminals bring law suits against prison

authorities!

We lay the blame for all of this at the feet

of a rising deity called humanism.

1. INDULGENCE Neutralism

   We indulge in this luxury.

Sacrifice and dedication will not coexist.

2. SOFTNESS

Softness eats away our character values.

We lose resolution to enforce righteous-

   ness.

   We become passive and non-aggressive.

   Without the principles of dedication.

   We become passive people.

We lose our will to be great. Greatness

is only accomplished by discipline (self-

   improvement by self-control) and reso-

lution. When these qualities are lost,

our pursuit of character is impossible and

we revert to deification of personality

   (self).

3. PASSIVE Passive

To exist without being active. Non-

   involvement - quiet.

   Uncommitted, neutral.

4. SELFISH APATHY

We have lost the will to be morally great,

to achieve! Our greatness lies in the

   powers of money and technology.

During the rule of kings and priests in

Israel's history, softness set in. The

priesthood became soft toward sin and wicked-

ness. The people went under tribute. It was

at this time God instituted two new offices,

the judge and the prophet. We think of Prophets

another special ministry God raised up, the Reformers

"reformers," Nehemiah and Ezra.

These ministries renewed the aggressive

spirit of moral resolve against evil.

A Scottish brigade was in battle. Needing

bullets, they called for the quartermaster to

bring bullets up from the rear lines. They

kept powdering their guns and shooting their

diminishing supply of bullets. The enemy

started a new attack ... they were running

low on ammunition. Just as they were shoot-

ing their last bullets, the keg arrived. The

enemy came rushing in as they tore open the

keg of bullets. As they ripped the lid off,

they trust their hands into a keg of raisins.

THEY LOST THE BATTLE. Someone made a mistake

and grabbed a keg of raisins instead of a keg

of bullets. We'll not win the battle of the

Lord with sweets!

We have been deceived into believing that to

love is always a virtue and that to hate is

always a sin.

This is war brethren! War

The abounding of sin demands the uncompro- Sin

mising aggressive spirit of the prophet! Sin

abounds where there is a love of wrong. When Love

the prophet comes opposing this wrong love,

he is merely revealing a spirit that loves Love-mongers

God and not things. We have become so con-

genial and comfortable with these nice things

of the world that it makes the prophet look

harsh, crude and hateful. We point at the

preacher of righteousness and we say, "You

don't have love!" Actually, he does have

love ... a love for purity, holiness and

righteousness. It's not the same kind of

smug religious sentimentalism we call love

today.

In a column appearing in THE CALIFORNIA Agape

FARMER, R. J. Rushdooney described the

theology of love by saying, "Those who claim

to be above hate are also beyond love. They

do not feel strongly enough about anything to

love it." To the contrary, love is to have

strong feelings for what is right and good.

This necessitates equally strong feelings for

that which is wrong, evil and displeasing to

God!

Mr. Rushdooney further states, "Such people

are emotionally and intellectually sterile."

Love-mongers don't understand that there is a

difference between righteous hatred and ma-

licious hatred. See Amos 5:15.

At this point you could read the Ten Command- Law Love

ments and conclude that the things we are not

to do are the things we are not to love.

When we do the things we are not to do, we

are loving the things we are not to love.

You love the things you do. You do the

things you love. To love wrong is sinful

love. To love what God does not love, is

sinful love. To love what God loves is agape

in me.
